Our Story
FRAMES CURATED BY was established in 2023 by Madrid-based actress, writer, and eyewear connoisseur Marta Doldán Díaz, along with her sister Amalia, an optometrist and law student. With over 15 years of industry experience and hailing from a family of optometrists with over 35 years of active business, FRAMES CURATED BY was born with the purpose of showing the public the best selection of frames within the leading, independent brands in the market, focusing on quality, craftsmanship and innovation. With a deep-rooted passion for film, art and culture, each selection is meticulously curated to provide our clients with attractive, unique, and interesting choices.
Movies, actors, and directors serve as our consistent sources of inspiration and aesthetic references. For each selection we invite creatives to collaborate with us in crafting a unique cinematic shopping atmosphere where our clients can buy with absolute confidence in the quality and uniqueness of each frame.
Our Home
Our father, Carlos Doldán, a biologist and optometrist from Galicia, founded Centro Óptico Berciano in 1982. Located in Ponferrada, a small town in northwest Spain, it was the first optical shop in town. Carlos moved to Ponferrada to start his business, focusing on quality and professionalism over price wars and competition. He later met our mother, Vida Díaz, a loving individual and skilled optometrist. She joined our father in the store and has since managed to curate the most exquisite and exclusive selection of brands. They run the business side by side, supported by an incredible team of optometrists, audiologists, and sales professionals. If you choose to have your lenses made with us, you’ll be in good hands. Trust us, we have been doing this for over 40 years.
